1. Who we are
Il Progresso (“we”, “us”) is the data controller responsible for this website, www.ilprogresso.org. You can reach us at privacy@ilprogresso.org.
2. The personal data we process
We operate as a publisher and do not require registration or user accounts. We therefore process very little personal data. In the ordinary course of running this site we may process:

- Preference data — a record of your display preference (light or dark theme) and your cookie choices, stored locally on your device.
- Aggregate usage data — anonymous, cookieless statistics on page views, used only to understand how our content is read.
3. Purposes and lawful basis
We process the data described above on the following lawful bases under Article 6 of the UK/EU General Data Protection Regulation:
- Legitimate interests (Article 6(1)(f)) — delivering and securing the website, and understanding aggregate readership.
- Consent (Article 6(1)(a)) — storing non-essential preferences and cookies, which you may withdraw at any time.
4. Cookies
This site uses a minimal set of cookies and similar technologies. Details of each cookie, its purpose, and its duration are set out in our Cookie Policy, and you can control them via our Cookie Management page.

We do not sell personal data. We use the following categories of processors, where applicable:
- Infrastructure and hosting providers that serve this website.
- Anonymous, cookieless analytics providers.
Where we engage a processor, we require them to protect personal data in accordance with applicable data protection law.
6. International transfers
Our website is hosted in the European Economic Area. Should any processing involve a transfer outside the EEA, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
7. Data retention
Technical server logs are retained only as long as necessary for security and operational purposes. Aggregate analytics are retained for up to 12 months and are not used to identify individuals.
